Welcome to the Research Computing Facility at the University of Victoria. We supply heavy computing power to the University as well as to other publicly funded agencies in the research community. Some of the exciting research facilitated by our machines are in the areas of physical sciences (astronomy, cosmology and particle physics), Earth sciences (forestry, climate simulation and seismology), engineering and social sciences.
The facility consists of the Llaima cluster, an Opteron-based cluster; the Minerva High Performance Cluster, designed for parallel applications; the Mercury Cluster, a Xeon processor-based cluster; and Storage, which consists of a multi-terabyte disk system and robotic tape library.
The Research Computing Facility is funded in part by: Users of our facility should subscribe to the UVic Informed System for important messages about our systems.
